As well as being able to make your bike look great, I can also help you learn to ride it better, and really get the most out of your cycling. I‘m a Level 2 Coach with British Cycling, which means I can help you with any number of things relating to how you ride your bike. From the very basics, to more advanced stuff like Cyclocross, Track Cycling or Mtb’ing, which are my specialisms.
And whilst I race, coaching doesn't have to be about being competitive. Pinning a number on isn't for everyone. Coaching is mostly about building confidence, and as a result enjoying cycling more. And who wouldn't want that?
I regularly coach at Herne Hill Velodrome, and there are a wide range of sessions there covering everything from learning to ride a bike, right up to racing on the track, and just about everything in between. And there are some great off road trails there too if you want to get muddy.
But if you want something a bit more tailored, or personal, then drop me a line using Figure8Coaching@hotmail.com or use the RevampBikes contact form, and we can take it from there. Obviously if you want any track coaching this needs to be at a velodrome, and not surprisingly I’d recommend Herne Hill.
I charge £40 an hour, and can take up to 6 riders at a time. I’m more than happy to coach groups, be they friend, families, or cycling clubs.
Riding figure of 8's are a great way of practicing repeated movements on the bike, and because it‘s a figure of 8 you get to practice both clockwise and anticlockwise. You can also vary their size, depending on the tightness of curve you want to ride. You can vary the surface you ride them on, from tarmac to grass, from mud to sand. And you can also ride them on slopes to practice those pesky off cambers. They really are a very useful tool to help improve your riding.
Plus they're my warm up exercise when I'm racing, and they look good when you've ridden them so much that your tyre tracks go a bit muddy (don't worry the grass grows back fast)
I can help you with any number of basic skills from learning how to take your first turn of the pedals, and beyond.
Want to learn how to ride a velodrome on a fixed wheeled track bike? I’m able to coach track cycling, although obviously it’ll need to be at a velodrome
Venturing off road for the first time, or thinking about trying a cyclocross race? I can help with a whole range of off-road drills to help improve your dirt riding.
Want to learn some more extreme off road skills? You guessed it. I can coach Mtb’ing as well
