Bike fitting service

What we offer

I’m qualified as a Level 1 Bike Fit Technician with the IBFI (International Bike Fitting Institute) which means we can provide advice on your position on a standard road bike. This includes the position of your cleats as well as your position on the bike.

We currently don’t offer advice on more specialist bikes i.e. Triathlon, but that will be coming in the future.

Postural Assessment

We’re all different, and whether we like it or not we all have things that affect how we sit and pedal on the bike. And cycling can be very unforgiving when things aren’t aligned correctly.

The Postural Assessment is the first step of a bike fit, and is used to identify your own particular quirks. We’ll also ask about any current of previous injuries. Helps us get an overall view before starting the actual bike fit.

Cleat Alignment

Where we press on the pedals is very important both in terms of efficiency and comfort on the bike. The position of your cleats on modern clipless pedals need to be set up correctly for you. This is where the bike fit starts for real.

We have cleat positioning tools for Look Keo, SPD-SL, SPD & Speedplay so can fit cleats for the most popular brands. This takes 1-1.5 hours.

We currently aren't able to offer advice on shoe fitting.

Finding Your Position

Once we've got you cleats positioned we can then start to think about your position on the bike itself. To do this we'll use our fully adjustable bike fitting rig. What we're looking for is the most comfortable and efficient position for you.

We’ll then record your bike fit measurements so you’ve got them for future reference.

We can also help to transfer this position to your own bike. This may mean you need to purchase some additional components i.e. a different handlebar stem. And depending on your current set up there may be some additional charges for mechanical work involved.

You can then try this out on our rollers. Don’t worry. It’s got a tripod to hold the front wheel, so you don't need to be able to balance.

Costs

A standard bike fit, which includes cleat alignment, takes 3-4 hours, and we charge £225 for this. This includes a Postural Assessment.

If you only want your cleats aligned then we can do this for £65.

I’m afraid we don’t offer bike fits unless we’ve carried out your cleat alignment. It’s a crucial part of the process, and if it’s not right then the rest of the fit won’t be either. If we’ve already done your cleats separately then we can do a bike fit for £165.
