Bike fitting service

What we offer

As well as Revamping your bike, I can also Redefine how you ride your bike. I'm certified with the IBFI as a Level 2 Bike fitter which means I'm able to adjust your position on your bike so it's just right for you. Right in the Goldilocks zone.

We offer a couple of different bike fit options for this. Costs are at the bottom of this page, but it’s worth reading the stuff in between so you can see what the differences are, and what’s involved in the process.

For the general cycling we do an Endurance Fit. However long you spend in a saddle it should be comfortable, be it on a Road Bike, Gravel Bike, or an Mtb.

If you race, or just want to ride faster, then a Performance Fit may be more what you’re after. Comfort is still the leading factor, but when we try harder our position on the bike changes.

We offer Performance Fits on Road, Track, Cyclocross & Mountain Bikes, as well as for TT's, Pursuits & Triathlons.

Postural assessment for bike fit

Postural Assessment

We’re all different, and whether we like it or not we all have things that affect how we sit and pedal on the bike. And cycling can be very unforgiving when things aren’t aligned correct.

The Postural Assessment is the first step of a bike fit, and is used to identify your own particular quirks. We’ll also ask about any current or previous injuries.

We‘ll then use what we discover to help guide the fit. No algorithms. No AI driven software. We fit the bike to you, determined by how you feel. It’s a totally individual approach, because after all, that’s what we all are. Warts and all.

Cleat Alignment

Where we press on the pedals is very important both in terms of efficiency and comfort on the bike. And the position of your cleats on modern clipless pedals need to be set up correctly as a consequence.

This is where the bike fit starts for real, and we’ll need to do this before moving onto an Endurance or Performance Fit. It really is the foundation of the bike fit, and if it’s not quite right then the fit won’t be either.

We also offer advanced foot correction, which may be required to  correct issues with your feet ie collapsing arches. We’ll review this as part of the Postural Assessment, and be able to advise on whether this is something you may want to consider.

We have cleat positioning tools for Look Keo, SPD-SL, SPD & Speedplay so can fit cleats for the most popular brands.

Finding Your Position

Once we've got your cleats positioned we can then start to think about your position on the bike. To do this we can either put your bike on our rollers, or we can use our fully adjustable bike fitting rig. Alternatively we can do this on your own bike at a convenient location We’ve got some clever gizmos that allow easy adjustments to the front end, without repeated dismantling of handlebars etc.

However we’ve done your fit you‘ll need to go away and ride your bike for real afterwards. Rollers and turbo trainers are great for making adjustments to your position, but they’re no substitute for riding in real life. We’ll follow up with you once you’ve ridden a bit, and make any adjustments needed. We’ll do this for up to 3 months after your fit to check things are just right. If we need to see you again within this period then we will.

Once we’ve found your position we can then record your bike fit measurements so you’ve got them for future reference.

We can also help to transfer this position to your own bike. This may mean you need to purchase some additional components i.e. a different handlebar stem. And depending on your current set up there may be some additional charges for mechanical work involved.

Costs

To align your cleats we charge £65. Price is per pair of shoes, but if you want more than one pair done we can offer a discount on extra pairs if they're done at the same time.

If foot correction is needed then we charge an additional £45, which covers the fitting of wedges to improve both knee alignment and pressure distribution within your shoes. Sometimes this isn’t enough, in which case you may need custom insoles to get the most from your shoes. We sell insoles for £95, which includes fitting. We’d discuss any foot correction with you before proceeding.

An Endurance Fit takes 3-4 hours, and we charge £225 for this.

A Performance Fit takes a bit longer and we charge £295 to look at your position in more detail. If you're having an Endurance Fit at the same time then this price comes down to £195. This reduction doesn't apply to TT, Pursuit or Triathlon bikes I'm afraid. The front end makes them more complicated.

And if you've already had a fit with us, and want to see us again after the 3 month post fit period, then we’ll do this for £75. Only possible on the bike we originally fitted you on though.
